  Lots of ads about immigrants, lots of ads highlighting the multicultural nature of our country.

  Genesis Lifetimes and Numerology

  out of morbid curiosity, i would like to here reduce the digits of the lifetimes stated in genesis chapter 5. it is clear that no human being has ever lived that long, and perhaps there is some numerological meaning to these numbers rather than literal history.

  7 after he became the father of enosh, seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters.

  10 after he became the father of kenan, enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters.

  What have been some of the funniest local needs talks that you have heard?

  i remember once in berlin south germany there was a local needs part for the men only, and how they should use the toilet.

  in all seriousness for ten minutes a retarded nigerian was going on about how men need to sit down when using the toilet.

  no mention of anything else.. it transpired that some little kraut boy from an "interested" family would aim for the side of the toilet and leave a great big puddle for others to clean up.

  The football thing has been around for ages. It's been mentioned at assemblies, KM schools, it's even sorta mentioned in the Keep Yourselves in God's Love book. It's one of those things that everyone sees and acknowledges but quietly ignores. Hell, some of the best Super Bowl parties I went to were at Bethel in Bethel Elder's apartments.

  Conditional Love

  i've noticed several posts recently claiming that jw friends and family members give out conditional love.

  well, i'm not so sure that is entirely accurate, in fact, i would say they tend to be very steadfast in their love.

  the issue is this, they have been taught a poor form of love.

  Their love is proportionate to how often you're at the meetings and out in field service. I don't do any of that anymore and I never hear from anyone except some elder who would literally call and text me at midnight for some reason. He hasn't done that in a very long time because I just straight up ignored him.

  Every once in a while I get dragged to the KH and I'm immediately hit with "Oh I've missed you. How you been? I've been thinking about you"

  All I can think is that if they really did miss me, they could easily call or something. They all have my number. I know personally if I am thinking of a friend or relative it takes about two seconds to reach out and say hi. If these people really were friends and a worldwide brotherhood they'd do the same.

  what if fred franz had never existed?.

  those of you who weren’t around in the days when he was the oracle of jwdom or who at least aren’t familiar with the deeper publications he was responsible for probably won’t be able to comprehend the significance of the question.

  i believe he influenced jwdom greatly, and the whole feel of jwdom would have been different without him.. during the 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s (not sure about 50’s), he was considered to be almost superhuman by some (a lot?

  So, I watched "The Founder" today, and had a minor Revelation

  in the movie's story, ray kroc, the man who is in charge of franchising mcdonalds restaurants, is finding himself in a situation where he is doing gangbusters at creating the stores, but is going broke on his contract.

  he gets help from another fast food executive who examines his books.one aspect of the business jumps out.

  the stores need land to operate on, and that money is going to the land-owners who lease the land to the stores.

  there was a thread from a year ago, the comments covered all the bases i suspected the wt would come up with.

  i'm out, so it doesn't really matter to me.

  weed has been brought before. If you have a medical marijuana card, prescription, whatever, it's ok. Apparently the demons check your wallet for it first. If you have it, they leave you alone. If don't, well buddy, you're in for a wild evening.

  edit: I remember the anti-rap stuff starting in the late 80's. I wish I could remember the article, but there was an Awake that condemned rap because (and I think I have the quote) 'they lyrics are spoken, not sung.'

  It's such an insane thing to harp on.

  Marking Talks are back!?!?! - New Name!

  when i was younger i used to hear about "marking talks" given in the past.

  i believe they stopped in the 80's or 90's.

  basically, if someone wasn't baptized or doing something unrepentant, they would get a "marking talk" and be treated the same as a df person.
